Rescue 3 Technician AdvancedSwiftwater Rescue Technician AdvancedA 4 day course, including 2 night exercises which build on the in-water and rope rescue concepts introduced at Level 1. It introduces search and team management issues and night operations.
This course is particularly beneficial for those who will be dealing with advanced water or vertical access to water situations or who will be charge of a team of rescue technicians in a swiftwater environment.
This course is compliant to standards laid down by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
Course Objectives: · To develop the awareness, confidence and personal skills necessary for rescue personnel in dealing with a swiftwater environment · To train students in the application of skills, tools and standard rescue equipment in swiftwater situations · To examine some of the safety and management issues related to swiftwater incidents
Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of the course and in addition to the outcomes at Level 1, the student should:· Understand the issues relating to incident management specifically applied to a swiftwater environment · Be able to perform a range of advanced rescue skills · Have experience of carrying out in-water rescue operations at night · Have the ability to rig systems for high line rescues and for raising and lowering personnel · Have knowledge of casualty care and packaging for evacuation · Gain experience of attending a litter on both high and low angle systems · Have experience through simulated exercises of search operations in and around a swiftwater environment both in daylight and at night · Understand the key issues related to search management |
