Rescue 3 Awareness Level

Water & Rope Rescue

A one day classroom based course designed to provide personnel who may be working near water with sufficient knowledge to be aware of the hazards created by this environment. During the course you will also develop an understanding of the implications and requirements for carrying out water-based rescues.

Course content includes:

· incident assessment & potential conditions

· appropriate response

· incident & resource management

· hazard recognition & reducing risk

Basic Water First Responder

A one day course designed for personnel who may work in or near a basic (still) water environment where they may be required to undertake rescues.

Half day classroom is followed by half day water-based practice.

Course content includes:

· basic shore-based water rescue

· in-water self-rescue and safety techniques

· the application of water rescue techniques

· basic water-related medical emergencies, and how to deal with them, including near-drowning, hypothermia, and cervical spine injuries

· basic boat-based rescue concerns and techniques
